Brandon Ingram’s injury could significantly impact the Toronto Raptors’ chances in the NBA playoffs as they face elimination against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The forward was ruled out for the second half of Game 5 on April 29, 2026, due to right heel inflammation, a condition that has flared up recently.
Ingram played just over 11 minutes in the first half, managing to score only 1 point on 0-of-2 shooting. This disappointing performance came after he had been averaging 14.8 points per game in the playoffs and 21.5 points during the regular season.
The Raptors entered Game 5 with high hopes, tied at 2-2 in their series against the Cavaliers. However, without Ingram, their offense struggled. The team ultimately lost that crucial game by a narrow margin of 125-120.
“Brandon, as you guys know, has been dealing with his heel,” Raptors coach Darko Rajaković told reporters after the game. He emphasized Ingram’s importance to the team: “Obviously, we need him out on the floor. His playmaking ability and his defense and everything he brings.”
The injury has been a lingering issue for Ingram since after the All-Star break. Rajaković noted that it’s “something that’s on and off,” indicating that while Ingram had shown signs of recovery, he reaggravated it during Game 5.
Scottie Barnes stepped up in Ingram’s absence, contributing 17 points and 11 assists. Yet, even with Barnes’ efforts, it wasn’t enough to secure a win against Cleveland.
The Raptors now face an uncertain future as they prepare for Game 6. “Tomorrow, we’ll know more. It’s 48 hours until the next game. I’m hopeful we’re going to have guys available,” Rajaković said, leaving fans anxious about Ingram’s status for this critical matchup.
As they look ahead, all eyes will be on both Ingram’s recovery and how effectively the Raptors can adapt without one of their key players in this pivotal playoff series.
