Catherine, Princess of Wales, honors Anzac Day at Westminster Abbey

Catherine, Princess of Wales, paid tribute to Anzac war dead during a significant ceremony at Westminster Abbey on April 25, 2026. This event marked Anzac Day, commemorating the bravery of soldiers who fought in the Gallipoli campaign.

The ceremony included a wreath-laying by Catherine and her husband, Prince William. Their wreath honored those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their countries. Princess Anne also participated in the day’s observances by attending a dawn service at Wellington Arch.

Across New Zealand and Australia, as well as on the Gallipoli peninsula in Turkey, commemoration services took place. The Royal Family shared a message on social media to recognize the contributions of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), stating it “honours the members who served and died in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.”

A recent poll revealed that an impressive 90.6% of participants believe that Prince William and Catherine will make good king and queen. Out of 1,666 responses, only 124 expressed doubt about their future roles in the monarchy.

As families across Australia and New Zealand reflect on their heritage today, many are reminded of their connections to those who served. Some observers noted that this year’s commemorations felt particularly poignant.

Catherine’s commitment to honoring military sacrifices aligns with her dedication to public service. This is evident as she navigates her role within the Royal Family while also considering educational choices for her son, Prince George, who will turn 13 this July.

Catherine attended single-sex schooling before transitioning to mixed education—an experience she seems keen to share with George as he approaches his teenage years. Discussions about whether he will attend boarding or day school are ongoing.

As Prince William put it recently: “I embrace that and I enjoy that change – I don’t fear it. That’s the bit that excites me, is the idea of being able to bring some change.” The family’s evolving dynamics reflect their growing responsibilities within the monarchy.
