Weather Fronts Bring Rain to Taiwan

“Two weather fronts are expected to affect Taiwan this week, bringing showers and thunderstorms across the island,” said the Central Weather Administration (CWA).

This week, residents in northern Taiwan brace for a significant change as the first front moves in, promising heavy rainfall. Daytime temperatures will hover between 22°C to 25°C, while nighttime lows drop to a cooler 18°C to 19°C.

As Liu Pei-teng from the CWA noted, “The northeasterly winds will also lower temperatures in northern Taiwan slightly to 26°C to 27°C in the daytime, and 21°C to 22°C at night nationwide.” This shift comes after a warm spell that has kept temperatures higher across the island.

The first front is expected to bring heavy rain primarily to northern regions, with localized showers or thunderstorms anticipated elsewhere. Residents should prepare for potential disruptions, including flooding in low-lying areas.

Another weather front is forecasted to arrive on Friday, likely causing brief showers in central, northern, and eastern Taiwan. By Sunday, strengthening northeasterly winds may lead to additional brief showers across these areas.

For those living in the outlying Matsu Islands, low clouds or fog could reduce visibility from Wednesday evening through Friday morning. Travelers should exercise caution during this period.

The CWA continues to monitor these developments closely as they unfold. Local communities are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions as the weather changes rapidly.
